Simply Marvelous
Samantha Morin
Chewing on a cracker
 with only two teeth
Grinning, so excited, so proud
As if no one but you
 had ever eaten before
Playing with the food
learning it’s texture, smell and taste
Convinced you are a marvel
 because you eat
Oh child, you are so close to right
 and yet so wrong
You are a marvel
wrought of love and fate and stardust
A person who dreams
 and laughs
 and cries
One who has grown so much
and will grow so much more
The cracker has little to do with it
